Specialist Physiotherapist Joins Hospital to Home – Leila
I am very happy to have joined the Children’s Long term ventilation team at the Royal Brompton Hospital. I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2008 from Sheffield Hallam University. I completed my junior rotations in Lincolnshire prior to undertaking more specialist roles in Pembrokeshire, predominantly in complex discharge management, in Truro as a respiratory therapist for NIV and in paediatric LTV/CF at Kings College hospital in London.
I have always had a passion for respiratory condition management and I have been lucky enough to work in many diverse areas within this field for both adults and children with excellent support and teaching from my seniors. I have been keen to move to a more specialist role that focused on LTV within paediatrics for some time.
Having previously worked in a large MDT for discharge planning, I really felt that this position would allow me to utilise those skills again, coupled with my respiratory and ventilation training this role is an ideal fit. Being able to work within a dynamic team supporting children back into the community is greatly satisfying and an exciting opportunity.
