A WellChild Nurse for Children on Long Term Ventilation – Emilie
I have joined the Children’s Long Term Ventilation Team in London as their WellChild Clinical Nurse Specialist following working with the team closely in my previous role as a Respiratory Specialist Nurse at King’s College Hospital. It is a pleasure to be working in such a forward thinking, supportive team and I am very excited about my new role!
Following training for my Masters in Nursing Science at The University of Nottingham, I have dedicated my nursing Career to date to Respiratory medicine, in particular specialising in children requiring Long Term ventilation either via tracheostomy or Non Invasive Ventilation. I was inspired by the dedication and determination of the families with children requiring Long Term Ventilation while working at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital when I first qualified, and I knew then that I wanted to continue to work in this speciality. I am passionate about improving the experience of the transition from Hospital to home of these children and their families in order to enable them to be at home as quickly and safely as possible where they can thrive and develop.
In my previous roles I have also been lucky enough to present at local, national and international conferences. I hope this will equip me with the skills to help continue to improve services and promote the needs of children requiring Long Term Ventilation and their families, ensuring that they are always at the centre of any decisions affecting their care. I am honoured to be a WellChild representative and to be able to continue to be involved in the child and families journey to home as part of the LTV Team.
